Softball Set For Two Midweek Non-Conference Games

Dayton to Host Northern Kentucky, Butler this Week

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team is set to host two midweek non-conference games at UD Softball Stadium this week. On Tuesday, Northern Kentucky will be in town for a single game at 3 p.m. followed by a single game against Butler on Wednesday also at 3 p.m.

Tuesday's contest against NKU was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts for the Norse but has been added back to the schedule at the originally scheduled time.

SCOUTING NORTHERN KENTUCKY
Northern Kentucky (11-16, 2-4 HL) went 2-1 in its three-game Horizon League series at Green Bay March 19-20 and Sunday's 6-2 series finale loss snapped a three-game winning spurt for the Norse. Kendyl McKeough leads the NKU offense with a .358 average, 29 hits, 18 RBI and eight home runs. Madisyn Eads (6-5) is Northern Kentucky's top threat in the circle with a team-low 3.03 ERA over 74.0 innings over work.

SCOUTING BUTLER
Butler (18-9, 6-2 Big East) also went 2-1 in its last conference series, a three-game set against Seton Hall at home this past weekend. The Bulldogs have won nine of their last 11 games and are stepping out of conference play for a single game at Dayton Wednesday. Bri Avery boasts that team's best average of .412 while Lauren Fey (.395) has tallied a team-best 32 hits. Combined, Avery and Fey are 23-and-29 in stolen bases. Karli Ricketts (8-2) holds the team low ERA of 2.28 and a .184 batting average against while Alyssa Graves (8-3, 2.50 ERA) has tallied a team-best 81 strikeouts.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (8-15, 4-4 A-10) suffered two losses to conference foe Saint Joseph's this past weekend in a weather-shortened league series. The Flyers have four everyday players hitting above .300 led by junior Grace Gressly with a .412 average (2nd A-10) while freshman Emma Schutter (.368) has a team-high 28 hits (7th A-10) and 13 stolen bases (2nd A-10). Senior Kelsey Gumm (3-5) leads the UD pitching corps with a 2.63 ERA (1st A-10) in 56.0 innings pitched with 53 strikeouts (6th A-10).

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton battled cold weather over the weekend in its A-10 home series with Saint Joseph's, dropping two games, 7-3 and 7-4, to the visiting Hawks. On Sunday, four Flyers tallied multi-hit games led by Schutter who was 3-for-4 at the plate.
