BRONX, N.Y. – The University of Dayton baseball team fell 8-2 in the series finale at Fordham in the Bronx on Saturday afternoon. Graduate student
Henry Strmecki hit two solo home runs in the loss.

The Flyers fall to 14-17, 3-6 in conference play with the loss. Fordham improves to 8-24 and is also 3-6 against A-10 opponents.

The Flyers tallied six hits in the contest, with Strmecki and graduate student
Alexis Castillo comprising of four of them. Castillo went 2-for-3 in the game, his second career multi-hit game at UD.

ON THE MOUND
Sophomore
Eli Majick made his first start of the season, going the first 1.1 innings and allowing three earned runs. Sophomore
Parker Bard entered for Majick in the second, going the next five innings and allowing just two runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

Senior
Jake Silverstein finished the game for the Flyers, pitching the final 1.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits and picking up one strikeout.

SCORING PLAYS
Bottom 1: (1-0 Rams)
Fordham opened the game with a base hit. An error on a pick off to first advanced the runner to third and a groundout to the shortstop made it 1-0 Fordham.

Top 2: (1-1 Tie)
Strmecki hit his first home run of the game 433 feet to straightaway center to tie the game at one.

Bottom 2: (4-1 Rams)
Fordham used a one-out home run to take the lead back. A single, double, and another single scored the next two runs of the inning to make it 4-1.

Bottom 5: (5-1 Rams)
A leadoff walk put a baserunner on. A stolen base and an error on the throw moved the runner to third and a base hit through the right side made it 5-1.

Top 6: (5-2 Rams)
Strmecki led off the sixth with his second home run of the game, again to center field to cut the lead to three runs. It marked the fifth home run of the season for the left fielder.

Bottom 7: (7-2 Rams)
A base hit through the right side led off the inning and a sacrifice bunt moved the runner up to second. A double made it 6-2 and a single followed by a sacrifice fly extended the lead to five runs.

Bottom 8: (8-2 Rams)
The Rams got the final run of the game on a home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, finalizing the score at 8-2.

UP NEXT
The Flyers will return home on Tuesday at 3 p.m. to take on Wright State at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.
