Alexis Castillo picked up an RBI single, reaching base three times in the contest.

The Flyers fall to 15-18, splitting their midweek games after beating Wright State on Tuesday. Butler improves to 18-20 with the win.

Dayton scored two runs in the first inning, taking an early lead with two of their four hits coming in the first. Along with Castillo, the Flyers got hits from graduate student
Henry Strmecki and juniors
Ben Jones and
Jose Martinez.

ON THE MOUND
The Flyers used six different pitchers in the game, starting with junior
Anthony Hattrup. Hattrup went the first two innings, allowing two runs on three hits and picking up a strikeout. Redshirt junior
Nick Maue entered in the third, pitching a scoreless inning before giving way to sophomore
Eli Majick.

Majick also pitched one inning, picking up a strikeout, retiring all three batters he faced in the fourth. Sophomore
Austin Brush pitched the next two innings, striking out four and allowing three runs on four hits.

Nick Rispoli entered the game in the seventh, allowing two runs on two hits. Junior
Thomas Braybrooks finished the game for Dayton in the eighth, pitching a scoreless inning with a strikeout, retiring the side.

SCORING PLAYS
Top 1: (2-0 Flyers)
Jones led off the game getting hit by a pitch, and senior
Marcos Pujols followed that with a walk of his own. Strmecki singled through the right side to load the bases and the Flyers took a 1-0 lead with a groundout from senior
Jay Curtis. Castillo extended the lead to two runs with a base hit to right field.

Bottom 1: (2-2 Tie)
Butler led off the first with back-to-back singles. A double down the left field line brought two runs home and tied the game at two.

Bottom 5: (3-2 Bulldogs)
Brush struck out the first batter of the inning before a walk and a wild pitch put a runner in scoring position. A two-out single to center field put the Flyers down 3-2.

Bottom 6: (5-2 Bulldogs)
The Bulldogs led off with a base hit before Brush would strike out the next two batters. A wild pitch and a single put runners on the corners. Butler would get two in scoring position before a base hit to right field made it 5-2.

Bottom 7: (7-2 Bulldogs)
Rispoli retired the first two batters of the inning, but a base hit and a two-run home run made it 7-2 and finalized the scoring for the contest.

UP NEXT
The Flyers will return home to take on Massachusetts in a three-game series at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium. Dayton will open the series with UMass on Friday at 3 p.m.
