ST. LOUIS – The University of Dayton baseball team went 1-2 in three games at Saint Louis on Friday. The Flyers fell 12-7 in the continuation of yesterday's postponed game, won 6-1 in today's scheduled game, and fell 7-2 in the series finale.

The Flyers finish the regular season at 23-27, 10-14 in Atlantic 10 play. Saint Louis improves to 28-22, 14-9 in conference play.

Senior
Marcos Pujols led the way going 6-for-14 in the three games against the Billikens. Senior
Jake Silverstein homered for the third time this season in the second game of the series, and graduate student
Henry Strmecki drove in three runs for the Flyers.

GAME ONE
ON THE MOUND
Graduate student
Kenny Serwa started the first game and went the first 2.1 innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits and striking out a pair before sophomore
Eli Majick entered the game. Majick would finish the third inning allowing one hit and striking out one.

Junior
Anthony Hattrup would pitch the next two frames, allowing an unearned run, getting the Flyers to the stoppage in play. Junior
Nick Maue would take over once the two teams resumed play on Friday, pitching 2.1 innings, striking out three and allowing three runs on four hits.

Nick Wissman would get the second out in the eighth, allowing one unearned run on two hits before junior
Thomas Braybrooks entered and finished the game on the mound.

SCORING PLAYS
Bottom 1: (1-0 Billikens)
Serwa gave up a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first to put the Flyers down 1-0.

Bottom 3: (7-0 Billikens)
The Billikens led off the inning with a catcher's interference call. A base hit and a wild pitch put two in scoring position, and another single made it 3-0. Another single put runners on the corners and a wild pitch put both runners in scoring position. A hit by pitch loaded the bases and a double down the right field line scored two more to make it 5-0. A sacrifice fly and an infield single brought in the final two runs of the inning.

Silverstein reached on a bunt single and two batters later a single by junior
Keagan Calero put runners on the corners. Pujols walked to load the bases and all three runners advanced on a passed ball, giving the Flyers their first run of the game. Strmecki followed that with a double, plating two more runs and cutting the lead to four.

A one-out single followed by a stolen base and a throwing error put a runner on third and a sacrifice fly made it 8-3.

Jose Martinez reached on a bunt single and freshman
Matt Maloney walked to put two on, after a double play put a runner on third, play was halted. Junior
Omar Daniels led off the game on Friday with a base hit through the left side, scoring a run and cutting the lead to four.

Bottom 6: (9-4 Billikens)
The Billikens led off Friday with a home run to extend the lead to five.

Top 8: (9-7 Billikens)
Silverstein drew a one-out walk and Daniels singled up the middle to put two on. Calero drew a walk to load the bases and Pujols delivered a base hit to right field to score the fifth run of the game. A walk by Strmecki cut the lead to three and a wild pitch made it 9-7.

Bottom 8: (12-7 Billikens)
Maue struck out the first batter of the inning but a walk and a single put two on. An error on a pickoff moved both runners into scoring position and a base hit scored two runs making it 11-7. Two batters later a double finalized the scoring at 12-7.

GAME TWO
ON THE MOUND
Sophomore
Parker Bard started the game for Dayton, going the first 4.2 innings without allowing a run. Bard struck out four and scattered four hits pitching into the fifth inning. Majick entered and retired the final batter in the fifth and pitched the sixth, earning his team-leading fifth win of the season and allowing one run on two hits in 1.1 innings.

Nick Meyer pitched the final three scoreless innings, earning his second save of the season. He scattered two hits and struck out one Billiken closing the door and giving the Flyers their first win of the day.

Top 4: (1-0 Flyers)
Strmecki led off the inning with a triple and two batters later he would score on a groundout by senior
Jay Curtis to put Dayton up 1-0.

Top 6: (4-0 Flyers)
Pujols led off the inning with a base hit and Strmecki followed with a walk. Sophomore
Anthony Steinhardt got a pinch-hit single to load the bases, and Curtis reached on an error, bringing home two runs and extending the lead to three. Two batters later, Maloney would draw a walk and Daniels would drive in another run with a base hit through the right side to make it 4-0.

Saint Louis led off the inning with a double and the runner would make it to third on an error. He would later score on a base hit to put Saint Louis on the board.

Silverstein hit his third home run of the season to lead off the ninth and extend the lead back to four runs. Calero would be hit by a pitch and steal second. Pujols would bring him in to score on a base hit through the right side, finalizing the scoring and securing the win for the Flyers.

Cody Whitten started the game for Dayton, going the first two innings, allowing two runs on four hits. Graduate student
Andrew Zapka would enter in the third, allowing one run over 2.2 innings before giving way to Wissman, who would finish the fifth inning for Dayton, giving up one earned run.

Sophomore
Austin Brush would enter in the sixth and pitch the next two innings, striking out a pair and allowing one earned run. Majick would make his third appearance of the series next, his 27
th of the season, tying for the second-most in a season in program history. Majick is now tied with Trent Haughn in 2010 and Cale Ort in 2006.

Serwa would pitch the final scoreless inning allowing one hit.

Back-to-back singles followed by a double brought home the first run of the game and a double play scored the second run putting Dayton down 2-0.

A walk was followed by two straight outs. A second walk put two on and a base hit to right center made it 3-0.

A hit by pitch followed by a wild pitch put a runner on second. Brush would retire the next two batters before a base hit that just dropped scored the fourth run of the game.

Curtis led off the inning reaching on an error. Redshirt freshman
Andrew Casey was hit by a pitch next and junior
Ben Jones replaced him with a fielder's choice. A base hit by Maloney brought home the first run of the game. Silverstein would come feet from tying the game with a home run hitting a ball that bounced off of the wall, singling and loading the bases. Daniels would pick up another RBI single to cut the lead to two.

A leadoff walk followed by a wild pitch and a base hit up the middle made it 5-2. Another single and a walk loaded the bases. A sacrifice fly made it 6-2 and a base hit through the left side put the Flyers down five runs. Dayton was unable to score in the top of the ninth, finalizing the score at 7-2.
