COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Dayton men's soccer opened up the 2022 regular season Thursday afternoon at the Ohio State Wolstein Classic with a convincing 5-0 victory over Cal Poly.
The Flyers (1-0-0) start off the year with a bang while the Mustangs (0-1-0) still look for their first goal of the season.

- Five Flyers made their first career starts in the Dayton uniform: Dario Caetano, Umar, Svendby, Kringen, and Melto Quiah.
- Sanchez led the way with a goal and two assists on three shots.
- Dayton had five different goal scorers and four different players with an assist.
- Junior goalkeeper Caetano recorded his first collegiate shutout and had three saves in his US debut.
- Ajago had a team-high seven shots while three others had three attempts.
- The 26-7 shot difference between the two teams was the biggest difference since Oct. 12, 2019, when the Flyers matched that effort on 33 shots to the opponents' 14 shots.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"It was a good start for us today," said head coach
Dennis Currier. "We came off a very strong preseason and got the result we were looking for in the first regular season game. We had fast tempo in our attack for the full 90 minutes which generated numerous chances on goal. This puts us in position to play for the (Wolstein Classic) Championship on Sunday against South Carolina."
