CINCINNATI - The University of Dayton volleyball team split its matches on day two of Cincinnati's Tribute to #10 Tournament Saturday. Dayton opened the day with a 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-15, 25-23) loss to RV Florida State before holding off Illinois State, 3-2 (15-25, 25-13, 14-24, 26-24, 15-11), in the nightcap.
Dayton finished the opening weekend of 2022 with a 2-1 record. Florida State is 2-0 and will square off against host Cincinnati Sunday at 1 p.m. Illinois State moves to 1-2.
GAME ONE
Florida State 3, Dayton 1
11 & 10 - senior
Grace Dynda recorded her first career double-double with a career-high 11 kills to go with 10 digs
10 - junior
Amelia Moore was the second Flyer in double-digit kills with 10 to go with a match-high five blocks
11 - sophomore
Anna Wuensch got under a team-high 11 digs and served up a career-high four aces
10 - freshman
Emily Young tallied a career-high 10 digs
GAME TWO
Dayton 3, Illinois State 2
30 & 13 - junior
Livie Sandt equaled her season high with 30 assists to go with a team-high-tying 13 digs for the double-double
11 & 13 - Dynda was the second Flyer with a double-double in the match after equaling her career high with 11 kills to go with a career-high 13 digs
10 - for the second-consecutive match, Moore tallied double-digit kills with 10 and five blocks
UP NEXT
Dayton will travel to Atlanta next weekend for a three-match slate at the Georgia Tech Invitational. UD is set to square off against Arizona State, Florida International and host No. 9 Georgia Tech Sept. 2-3 at the Yellow Jackets' O'Keefe Gymnasium.
