NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - University of Dayton volleyball junior
Amelia Moore has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday.
Davidson junior Bella Brady was selected as Defensive Player of the Week and Fordham freshman Audrey Brown was named Rookie of the Week. The awards, which are the first of the season, include matches in the opening weekend of play.
Moore, a middle blocker from Ocean Springs, Miss., helped lead Dayton to a 2-1 opening weekend at Cincinnati's Tribute to #10 Tournament over the weekend. She averaged 2.23 kills per set, 1.23 blocks per set and 3.12 points per set with wins over Cincinnati and Illinois State and a 3-1 loss to (RV) Florida State. To open the season, Moore posted nine kills, six blocks, four digs and a service in a 3-1 win over Cincinnati. In the loss to the Seminoles, Moore tallied 10 kills while swinging at .474 to go with five blocks. In Saturday's nightcap win over Illinois State, she again recorded 10 kills and five blocks to go with two service aces.
UP NEXT
Dayton will travel to Atlanta next weekend for a three-match slate at the Georgia Tech Invitational. UD is set to square off against Arizona State, Florida International and host No. 9 Georgia Tech Sept. 2-3 at the Yellow Jackets' O'Keefe Gymnasium.
