CHICAGO – The United States Soccer Federation announced their invitees for the U-19 National Team training camp this month and selected University of Dayton freshman
Batoul Reda as a participant.
"We are incredibly excited for Batoul," said Dayton head coach
Eric Golz. "This is a fantastic opportunity for her. I am proud of her for her performances, her potential, and her continued growth here at Dayton. It is a great honor for both her and the program - and I know that she has the mindset, skillset, and talent to enjoy the experience while using it as another growth opportunity as she pursues her dream of becoming a professional soccer player."
The freshman goalkeeper earned Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team honors this past season after leading the Flyer keepers in games started, minutes played, saves, wins, and shutouts. She led Dayton to the A-10 Championship game and ranked in the top five in the conference during the season in goals against average and save percentage.
Reda is just the second Flyer ever chosen for the national team camp, joining Colleen Williams, who joined the U23 team training camp in 2012.
The Dearborn, Mich. native is one of 34 participants in the camp which combines the U-18 and U-19 squads and will take place in Carson, Calif. She is one of the four goalkeepers chosen as well.
U.S. U-20 women's national team head coach Tracey Kevins and U-17 head coach Natalia Astrain will run the camp along with multiple other national team head coaches at a variety of levels. Former Dayton assistant coach Tiffany Hansen will serve as the goalkeepers coach and work with Reda directly.
