FAIRFAX, Va. - The University of Dayton men's soccer team went on the road in rainy conditions Saturday and tied George Mason 1-1.
The Flyers (5-6-4, 2-1-3 A-10) keep their unbeaten streak alive at five games while the Patriots (3-5-3, 2-3-1 A-10) picked up a tough point at home.
SCORING BREAKDOWN
- 12:33 - Sophomore Sidike Jabateh scored his fourth goal of the season and put Dayton up early with his strike inside the box. Sophomore Casper Svendby provided the assist.
- 74:27 – George Mason evened the score with a goal in the 75th minute from Nicholas Prioli.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Flyers were outshot in the contest 12-8 and put two on target compared to the Patriots' four on frame.
- Dayton had just one substitution in the game.
- Graduate student Manny Day and freshman Martin Bakken both led the Flyers with two shots each.
- Senior goalkeeper Dario Caetano had three saves.
- There were zero cautions in the game.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"The team did well grinding out a point on the road in very tough weather conditions," said head coach
Dennis Currier. "A few key players are out due to injury and we needed some new players to step up. GMU did a good job sustaining possession, but we did well on the transition which found the early goal."
