Men’s Soccer Picks Up Road Point At Saint Louis

The Flyers and Billikens Drew 0-0 Saturday Night

ST. LOUIS - The University of Dayton men's soccer team traveled to Saint Louis University Saturday and earned an important point in a tough environment.

The Flyers (5-6-5, 2-1-4 A-10) remain in the hunt for postseason play while the Billikens (7-4-3, 4-1-2 A-10) still sit in second in the Atlantic 10 standings.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Flyers started off slow offensively as the Billikens put up four shots to Dayton's one, but then the visitors came alive with 11 shots in the first half including one attempt off the post by sophomore Sidike Jabateh.
  • Dayton finished the game with 16 shots and put seven on target while SLU had 10 shots, six on frame.
  • Jabateh led the Flyers with four shots while graduate student Manny Day had three shots.
  • Senior goalkeeper Dario Caetano racked up six saves in the effort.
  • The defense held strong for its fourth shutout of the season.
  • There were four cautions in the contest, two for each team, while fouls were 12-8 in favor of the Billikens.
  • Saturday's draw pushed Dayton's unbeaten streak to seven straight games.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"The team played bravely tonight and earned a tough point on the road," said head coach Dennis Currier. "We were unfortunate not to get the game winner late in the second half. Overall, we controlled most phases of the game and deserved a bit more out of the result, but every point is critical at this stage in conference play."

UP NEXT
  • The Flyers finish up the regular season at home on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. against Massachusetts. It will be Senior Day at Baujan Field.
