Volleyball In Nation's Capital For Two Matches At George Washington

Dayton in the Midst of 18-Match Winning Streak

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The 18th-ranked University of Dayton volleyball team is in the nation's capital this weekend for two Atlantic 10 Conference matches at George Washington. The Flyers and Revolutionaries are set to square off on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a 1 p.m. match on Saturday at GW's Charles E. Smith Center.

ABOUT DAYTON
No. 18 Dayton (23-2, 12-0 A-10) heads into this weekend's matches enjoying an 18-match winning streak after dispatching Duquesne 3-0 on Tuesday. The Flyers' Lexie Almodovar ranks seventh in the nation with 372 total kills and 430.0 points while Alyssa Miller's 908 assists ranks fourth in all of Division I. On defense, Amelia Moore has tallied 109 total blocks (12th NCAA) and Karissa Kaminski has gotten under 394 digs (31st NCAA) this season. As a team, Dayton leads all of DI with 2.27 aces/set and Taylor Russell leads the charge with 0.49 aces/set (25th NCAA).

SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
George Washington (7-16, 4-8 A-10) dropped a straight-set decision at George Mason on Wednesday and is experiencing a four-match skid ahead of this weekend's games. The Revolutionaries are led on offense by Liv Womble with 2.86 kills/set and Maeve Loughran with 6.33 assists/set (5th A-10). Defensively, Amina Robinson is the team's leading passer with 3.12 digs/set (10th A-10) while Kelsey Watkins collected 0.99 blocks/set (8th A-10).

SERIES STUFF
Dayton Leads, 42-11
In a series that dates back to 1995, Dayton has won 15-consecutive matches against George Washington and holds a commanding all-time advantage of 42-11. The last time the Revolutionaries downed the Flyers was a 3-2 win in the nation's capital on Oct. 11, 2014.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton completed the series sweep of Duquesne with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-9, 25-16) win at home Tuesday night. As a team, the Flyers tallied 10 services, 10 blocks and a season-high .398 hitting percentage to power past the Dukes.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2023 season released Oct. 23, Dayton ranked 17th according to NCAA.com. George Washington was ranked 233rd.

AVCA/TARAFLEX TOP 25 COACHES POLL
In the Oct. 23 edition of the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division I Top 25 poll, Dayton was ranked 18th. This is the seventh-consecutive week the Flyers have appeared in the poll this season. Over the history of the AVCA WVB DI Coaches Top 25 Poll, Dayton has been ranked a total of 64 times and the program's highest ranking was No. 10 on Sept. 3, 2012.
