DAYTON – The University of Dayton Flyers improved to 6-2 as they defeated the Grambling State Tigers 76-46 at home on Saturday.
Nate Santos led the Flyers to the victory over the Tigers with a career-high 26 points.
Koby Brea (15) and
Kobe Elvis (10) also contributed double-digit tallies.
GAME RECAP
1st Half – Dayton 40, Grambling State 16

Nate Santos got the Flyers on the board with back-to-back triples.
• After going down 4-0, Dayton went on a 14-0 scoring run and held Grambling State to a scoring drought of 4:29.

Koby Brea and
Kobe Elvis got on the scoresheet with threes of their own.

Enoch Cheeks ended a Flyers 2:30 scoring drought with a three-pointer giving the Flyers a 22-10 lead. He was the fourth Flyer to hit a three-pointer in the first half.
• Brea with another triple to give the Flyers a 30-12 lead with 4:42 remaining in the half.
• Dayton ended the half shooting 50% (14-28) from the field and 60% (9-15) from beyond the arc.
2nd Half –Dayton 76, Grambling State 46
• The Flyers came out of the locker room in time to witness UD's 1983-84 Elite Eight team be honored during intermission. Dayton head coach
Anthony Grant was a freshman on that team. Counting Grant, 10 of the 13 players on that team returned to the Arena for the 40th-year reunion, along with 91-year-old Hall of Fame coach Don Donoher.
• Elvis started the second half with yet again another triple.
• The Flyers went on another scoring run of 7-0 over a span of 1:20 which brought the Dayton lead to 52-23.
• Brea continued his hot streak from beyond the arc after he hit another triple to bring his tally to five on the night for him.
• Santos had an athletic put-back dunk for the first Flyer dunk of the game, giving UD its largest lead of the game (62-27) with 10:33 remaining.
• The Tigers took advantage of Dayton turnovers and went on an 11-0 run over a span of 2:57 to make the game 62-38 with 7:08 to go.
• Santos hit a corner three to score a career-high 21 points and a career-high five triples. He would go on to hit one more trey to bring his tally to six made on the game and 26 total points.

Isaac Jack on a break made an electric dunk bringing the lead to a confident 72-42.
• C.J. Napier scored his first points in a Dayton uniform (but the 1,281st as a college player) with a jump hook in the lane with 1:15 to go to close out the Dayton scoring.

DaRon Holmes II had three blocked shots in the game, making him the all-time Dayton career blocked shot record holder, with 163 in 77 games. Chris Wright had 162 in 123 career games.

Javon Bennett contributed eight assists during the victory without conceding a turnover. He also had three steals.
