HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The University of Dayton men's golf team claimed second place at the 2023 Wexford Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion. The 54-hole event was contested at Wexford Golf Course Feb. 20-21, a signature Arnold Palmer design, and the course was played at par 72 and 6913 yards.

No. 37 USC Aiken took top teams honors with a score of 293-289-297=879 (+15) with Dayton finishing five strokes behind in second place with a score of 294-295-295=884 (+20). Host Francis Marion's Grant Sellers claimed medalist honors after a three-round total of four-under-par (72-67-73=212).

KEY STATS
🦅 - sophomore Ben Cors carded an eagle on the par-three hole 13 with a hole-in-one
41 - junior Henry May tallied a total of 41 parred holes to lead the field of 89 participants
71 - senior Kyle Schmidt carded a season-low round of 71 on the final 18

COACH'S QUOTE
"As always, I am very proud to coach this team," said head coach Gip Hoagland following Tuesday's round. "This week was a total team effort from hole one to 54. Everyone was a major contributor and, as a coach, that is what you want to see.
"Wexford is a special place for us as it had become a home-away-from-home. The support we receive here makes it feel like a home tournament. We cannot thank all of the alumni and fans that were out here with us enough. It is really nice to play well in front of them."
