Ben Jones Collected Both Dayton Hits

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Dayton baseball team saw its bats go quiet Saturday night against the No. 3-ranked University of Tennessee, falling 4-1 to the Volunteers at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Senior Ben Jones notched both of Dayton's hits, collecting a pair of singles to add to his team lead on the season. Fellow senior Omar Daniels scored the FlyBoys' lone run on the back end of a first-and-third steal, crossing the plate in the third inning.

Dayton's bullpen was shut-down Saturday night, throwing four scoreless innings and allowing just one run. Junior Ryan Packard tossed two innings and allowed a single hit to go with a pair of strikeouts. The trio of junior Nick Wissman, junior Seth Claybourne, and graduate student Andrew Zapka threw the final two innings in scoreless fashion.
