COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Dayton baseball team surrendered five runs in the seventh inning to Ohio State Friday night, ultimately falling to the Buckeyes 7-2 at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium.
After OSU jumped ahead 2-0 in the first inning, senior
Ben Jones launched his second home run of the campaign to knot the score at 2-2. Starter
Mark Manfredi settled in after the first-inning homer, allowing just one hit over the next five innings of work. In fact, the left-hander retired 10 consecutive Buckeyes from the third through the sixth inning.
Dayton mounted a threat in the final inning, getting the first two runners aboard, but unfortunately the rally fizzled out and the FlyBoys would get no closer.
