Jones and Tomaini Go Yard Twice To Lift #FlyBoys Over NKU

Dayton Moves To 3-0 In Mid-Week Games This Season

DAYTON - Senior Ben Jones and junior Paxton Tomaini each hit two home runs, including a grand slam for Tomaini, to power the University of Dayton baseball team over Northern Kentucky University 14-3 Tuesday afternoon at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, UD loaded the bases on three walks to start the inning. Tomaini, hitting from the left side, launched his second homer of the season and first career grand slam beyond the right-centerfield wall to put the Flyers ahead. Three batters later, Jones deposited his fourth home run of the season beyond the left-field wall to push the lead to 6-1.

In the very next inning, Tomaini came to the plate as a right-hander and hit a three-run homer down the left-field line. It became de-ja-vu as Jones stepped to the plate with a man aboard three batters later and left the yard for his second two-run homer of the game and fifth of the season.

The FlyBoys coasted from there, improving to 3-0 in mid-week games with the dominant performance.
