WASHINGTON D.C. - The University of Dayton baseball team fought from behind Sunday, March 26, but ultimately Georgetown's knack for timely home runs led the Hoyas to a 6-4 victory over the Flyers at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy.
After the host Hoyas jumped ahead with a three-run blast in the third inning, the FlyBoys fought back with three runs of their own in the fourth thanks to an RBI single from
Matt Maloney and a two-run error on a
Mason Dobie batted ball. Two innings later, UD jumped ahead on a Dobie single run that scored
Carlos Castillo from second.
In the home half of the seventh, Georgetown rallied with two outs to put two men aboard for Jake Hyde, who then deposited the Hoyas' second three-run shot of the day beyond the wall to give them a lead for good.
