DAYTON - The University of Dayton baseball team fell behind early and never recovered Wednesday, March 28, dropping its first midweek game of the season to Akron 9-5 at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.
The Flyers fell behind 6-0 early, but fought back with a pair of runs in the third. UD then loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth inning, but a double play ended the threat and gave the Zips the momentum. Akron responded with a three-run seventh inning to push the lead to 9-3, but the Flyers continued to hang around.Â
In the eighth, Dayton once again loaded the bases and scored two runs on a pair of walks. The rally would fizzle there, and the FlyBoys went to the ninth down 9-4.Â
Senior
Marcos Pujols brought the score to its final tally of 9-5 with his fourth home run of the season.
