DAYTON - The University of Dayton baseball team slugged its way to two victories against Eastern Illinois at home on Saturday, March 4, coming back in both games to win in dramatic fashion. The FlyBoys earned the victory in the front end of the doubleheader 8-7, and came back earn another in game two, 7-6, at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.Â
Both games were filled with drama as the FlyBoys rallied with two outs in the final inning of game one to score three runs and win on a walk-off fielder's choice by freshman
Zachary Scott. Game two saw the Flyers turn to their power hitting, as they slugged five home runs and closed out the doubleheader with a 7-6 victory.Â
Dayton is now 2-6 on the season while Eastern Illinois moves to 4-4.Â
GAME ONE
Dayton 8, Eastern Illinois 7
After the Panthers jumped out to an early 5-1 lead, the FlyBoys battled their way back and had the game close at 7-5 entering the final frame. With two outs in the inning,
Michael Adair walked and
Omar Daniels doubled to put the tying run in scoring position. Junior
Carlos Castillo lined a single up the middle to plate the pair and tie the score. After a stolen base and an intentional walk, Castillo scored all the way from second base on a fielder's choice by Scott hit to the second baseman.

Eddie Yamin IV played hero for the FlyBoys, smacking a go-ahead two-run bomb in the home half of the seventh inning.
