DAYTON - The University of Dayton baseball team crushed six home runs, including two each from
Marcos Pujols and
Nolan Watson, to power the Flyers past George Washington, 8-6, on a windy Saturday afternoon at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.
GW opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the second inning, but the #FlyBoys bats were just heating up.
Senior
Ben Jones launched his sixth home run of the campaign in the second, and Pujols smacked his first of the day an inning later. Junior
Carlos Castillo joined the home run brigade with his third of the year in the fourth inning, and Pujols hammered his sixth of the season 485-feet beyond the right-center field wall in the fifth. Senior
Nolan Watson provided crucial insurance with his two home runs, going yard in both the sixth and eighth innings.
Senior
Mark Manfredi had a strong showing on the bump, picking up his first quality start of the season. The left-hander tossed six innings and allowed just two runs while tying a season-high in strikeouts with nine.
The #FlyBoys hit six total home runs on the day, bringing their total to 10 so far in the series. All 10 home runs have been solo shots.
