OLEAN, N.Y. - The University of Dayton men's tennis team won an exciting match with Atlantic 10 foe Duquesne Saturday afternoon, topping the Dukes 4-1 at the SBU Indoor Facility.
The Flyers won the doubles point in dramatic fashion after an injury to
Erik Eliasson. With the score tied 2-2, the junior, playing with
Oliver Dunne at No. 3, played through the injury to help secure a 6-4 victory.
Ronit Hiryur and
Matt DeMarco were also victorious, winning at No. 2 6-4.
On the singles side, multiple spots battled to bring UD victory.
Ronit Hiryur won convincingly at No. 3, 6-4, 6-1, but the other two points were earned after dropping the first set.
Sai Dore won 3-6, 6-1, 6-1, and DeMarco clinched the match for the Flyers with a 6-7(3), 6-4, 7-6(2) thriller at No. 2.
