DAYTON - On the final weekend of the regular season, the University of Dayton men's tennis team travels to Richmond, Va. to take on Davidson College Saturday, April 15 at 12 p.m. and the University of Richmond Sunday, April 16 at 10 a.m. at the Westhampton Tennis Complex.
The Flyers come into the weekend with a 13-8 record on the season and a perfect 3-0 mark in Atlantic 10 play. The senior duo of
Connor Bruce and
Matt DeMarco lead the way for the Flyers, with Bruce posting a record of 15-4 at No. 1 singles and DeMarco turning in a 13-2 mark at No. 2 on the season. UD has won its last two matches in part because of taking the doubles point, where DeMarco and
Ronit Hiryur have gone 2-0 at No. 2 and
Oliver Dunne has teamed with
Erik Eliasson and
Sai Dore for a pair of wins at No. 3.
Davidson has an overall record of 6-9 on the 2023 campaign but is 2-0 in A-10 action, defeating St. Bonaventure and Fordham convincingly. Alejandro Solares leads the Wildcats in wins this spring, piling up a total record of 9-6, with his best spot being at No. 3 where he's 6-2. In doubles, Juan Camilo Perez Gongora and Maxwell Kachkarov have a 6-7 record at No. 1.
Richmond has put together an 11-7 record this spring but is just 1-2 in the Atlantic 10 thus far. They've split each of their last four matches, defeating Longwood and Fordham in 4-0 sweeps, but falling to George Mason (4-2) and William & Mary (5-2).
