#FlyBoys Soar! UD Smashes Attendance Record and Wright State

Mason Dobie Smacked A Grand Slam And Drove In Six

DAYTON, Ohio. - In front of a record 6,743 fans, the University of Dayton baseball team, powered by sophomore Mason Dobie's grand slam, toppled Wright State, 8-3 at Day Air Ballpark, home of the Dayton Dragons.

The Raiders opened the scoring with a run in the visiting half of the first, but the FlyBoys struck back with a three-spot, highlighted by a two-run Dobie double.

Dayton busted the game wide open in the third when Dobie came to the plate with the bases loaded. The Meaford, Ontario native hammered the first pitch he saw beyond the right field wall to put UD ahead 7-1 and bring his RBI total to a new career-best six.

WSU inched closer with a two-run fifth, but UD cashed a key insurance run in the eighth thanks to a bases-loaded wild pitch to go ahead 8-3.

The Flyers used six pitchers in the contest, with Austin Brush getting his first win of the season. Junior Nick Wissman struck out three in 1.2 innings of work, and Luke Baker finished the game with two scoreless innings.
