FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Dayton baseball team won a high-scoring affair at Purdue Fort Wayne Wednesday, April 26, winning 11-10 at Mastodon Field.
Â
Dayton jumped ahead thanks to a two-run second inning and a four-run third, highlighted by a home run by sophomore
David Pedanou. Despite the Mastodons fighting back and cutting the #FlyBoys lead to just one, UD added two more in both the fourth and fifth innings to push their lead to 10-6.
The game tightened up in the eighth inning when, after the Flyers pushed across another run on a two-out single by
Nolan Watson, the Mastodons struck back with a three-run frame to make it an 11-9 score.
Â
Despite a rally in the ninth by Purdue Fort Wayne, senior
Nate Espelin closed out the game to give Dayton the 11-10 win.
