KINGSTON, R.I. – The University of Dayton baseball team swept an important doubleheader over Atlantic 10 foe Rhode Island Friday, April 28, winning game one 9-3 and game two 6-2 at Bill Beck Field.

Coming in the weekend, both the Flyers and Rams were tied at third in the standings with A-10 records of 7-5. With the two wins today, UD secures another series win, its fourth of conference play.
GAME ONE
Dayton 9, Rhode Island 3
The FlyBoys jumped ahead early with single runs in three of the first four innings, then played add-on with a pair of runs in the sixth, driven home by
Marcos Pujols with a bases-loaded single.

UD busted the game open with a four-run seventh, as
Keagan Calero and Pujols both came through with clutch singles with the bases juiced to put the #FlyBoys ahead 9-1.

Flyer starter
Mark Manfredi pitched into the sixth and allowed just one unearned run. The lefty struck out seven and limited the Rams' offense to just two hits.

Junior
Nick Wissman tossed a season-high 3.1 innings and tied his career-best in strikeouts with six. Unfortunately, the side-winder's stretch of scoreless appearances was snapped at five thanks to a two-run home run in the ninth, but Wissman picked up his first save of the season.

Dayton made it a clean sweep of the doubleheader with a 6-2 victory in the nightcap.

Starter
Eli Majick tossed 6.2 innings, striking out a career-high eight while scattering eight hits and surrendering only two runs.
Luke Baker came out of the bullpen to strike out a pair in 1.1 innings of work, while
Andrew Zapka finished the game with a strikeout.

Rhode Island struck first with a single run in the home half of the first, but Dayton pulled to even with a single run in the second and took the lead for good in the third when junior
Carlos Castillo launched a two-run homer to give the FlyBoys the lead.

The Rams cut back into the lead with a single run in the home half of the fifth, but the Flyers separated themselves in the eighth when
Omar Daniels drove in a pair with a triple and tacked on one more when he came home on a wild pitch. When the dust settled Dayton had a 6-2 lead.
