#FlyBoys Drop Finale to Rhode Island, 11-6

Jay Curtis Hit A Pinch Hit Grand Slam

KINGSTON, R.I. – The University of Dayton baseball team was on the losing end of a home run barrage Saturday afternoon against Rhode Island, falling 11-6 to the Rams at Bill Beck Field.

There were six total home runs hit on the day, five of them hit by URI. UD's lone home run came in grand fashion, as senior captain Jay Curtis hit an eighth-inning grand slam, but it would not be enough to overcome the Rams' power surge.

UD jumped in front early with single runs in the first and second innings, but Rhode Island struck back with crooked numbers in the next four innings.

The FlyBoys managed nine hits on the day, with Keagan Calero and Carlos Castillo both finishing the day with a pair of knocks.

BY THE NUMBERS
21 – hits in Atlantic 10 play for Carlos Castillo after his two-hit performance
4 – players hitting over .300 in Atlantic 10 play after the weekend (Castillo, Calero, Jones and Pedanou)
