DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team will step out of conference play to take on Butler Tuesday afternoon. The Flyers and Bulldogs are set to square off at 3 p.m. at Butler Softball Field in Indianapolis.
ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (18-12, 5-1 A-10) claimed a three-game Atlantic 10 series sweep of George Washington this past weekend at home and the Flyers are currently in first place in league standings. UD's offense is paced by sophomore
Maddie Kapsimalis with a .441 average (1st A-10) that includes a team-high nine doubles (3rd A-10) and sophomore
Emma Schutter (.408 - 3rd A-10) with 40 hits (2nd A-10), 20 stolen bases (2nd A-10) and 19 runs scored (6th A-10). In the circle, three-time A-10 Rookie of the Week
Izzy Kemp (8-4) leads the conference with a 1.05 ERA, a .155 opposing batting average and 120 strikeouts.
SCOUTING BUTLER
Butler (14-20, 8-1 Big East) is coming off a 2-1 series win at Creighton last weekend and the Bulldogs sit atop the Big East standings. Paige Dorsett leads the team with a .343 average while Kaylee Gross (.340) has tallied a team-high 33 hits, 22 runs and 12 stolen bases. Butler's pitching corps is led by Mackenzie Griman (7-8) with a 3.76 ERA with 10 complete games and 41 strikeouts over 91.1 innings pitched.

Last season, Dayton hosted Butler at UD Softball Stadium in late March. The Flyers shutout the Bulldogs, 6-0, and UD has won three of the last four meetings between the two squads.
RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for games through April 2, Dayton came in at 136 according to NCAA.com. Butler was ranked 181.
