DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team slugged its way past St. Bonaventure in its doubleheader Thursday, taking down the Bonnies 17-3 in game one and 5-2 in game two at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

GAME ONE
Dayton 16 St. Bonaventure 3
The #FlyBoys jumped ahead early and never looked back, scoring runs in each of the first five innings en route to a 17-3 drubbing.
 
UD scored in all but one inning in the contest, with a grand slam from freshman 
Eddie Yamin IV serving as the game's exclamation point in the home half of the eighth inning.
 
The pitching trio of 
Parker Bard, 
Anthony Hattrup and 
Ryan Packard put together a strong overall performance, striking out a combined 10 batters and allowing just four hits. Bard surrendered two earned runs in five innings of work, and Hattrup struck out six in three innings on the bump. Packard slammed the door in the final inning with a pair of strikeouts.
 
Only two Flyers had multi-hit games, as 
Carlos Castillo collected three hits and 
Marcos Pujols added a pair. Eight of nine starters had base hits in the game, and all nine FlyBoys reached base.

GAME TWO
Dayton 5 St. Bonaventure 2
Though not as much offense in the nightcap, the Flyers were equally dominant in game two, plating five runs early and letting the pitching do the rest on the way to a 5-2 victory.
 
St. Bonaventure jumped ahead with a run on three hits in the opening frame, but 
Ben Jones erased the lead with his ninth home run of the season in the home half of the first.
 
UD took the lead for good the next inning when 
David Pedanou drove home 
Matt Maloney with a sacrifice fly after the catcher led off the inning with a triple.
 
Dayton put some distance between itself and SBU with a three-run fourth inning. The FlyBoys got four consecutive two-out hits from 
Omar Daniels, 
Ben Jones, 
Keagan Calero and 
Marcos Pujols to go up 5-1.
 
The Bonnies scored a single run in the seventh inning, but the bullpen tandem of 
Nick Wissman and 
Andrew Zapka slammed the door, pitching the final three innings and allowing just one base hit.
