Daniels' Walk-off Lifts #FlyBoys to Sweep Of St. Bonaventure

The Series Sweep Is UD's First Of The Season

DAYTON – On the day the University of Dayton baseball team honored the 2023 graduating class, senior Omar Daniels provided the fireworks in walk-off fashion, driving home David Pedanou to give the FlyBoys a 3-2 win over St. Bonaventure on Friday at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

After the Bonnies tied the score 2-2 in the top of the ninth, Pedanou led off the bottom of the frame with a base hit. After a steal put Pedanou into scoring position, Daniels smacked a line drive up the middle to bring him sliding home for a Flyer walk-off victory on Senior Day.

It was a pitcher's duel until the very end, as UD starter Mark Manfredi pitched into the eighth and surrendered one earned run while striking out five. SBU starter Liam Devine tossed eight complete innings and allowed just one earned run on one hit and struck out seven.

Dayton got on the board early with a sacrifice fly by sophomore Matt Maloney in the first scoring senior Ben Jones to jump ahead 1-0.

The Flyers struck again in the fourth with another sacrifice fly this time courtesy of fifth-year Jay Curtis scoring Maloney and increasing the FlyBoy lead to 2-0.

St. Bonaventure got a run back in the seventh, making the score 2-1. They would go on to tie the game at 2-2 in the ninth with an RBI single.
