Women's Soccer Edges Massachusetts, 1-0

The Shutout Is The Second Consecutive For The Flyers

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team edged out the University of Massachusetts 1-0 Sunday afternoon in its Atlantic 10 home opener at Baujan Field.

KEY MOMENTS
Dayton (6-1-3, 1-0-1) jumped ahead early thanks to junior Noel Blain scoring her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 14th minute of action. The Canton, Mich. native knocked a left-footed shot past the keeper in the right corner of the goal off a beautiful feed from senior Diana Benigno.

Facing a tremendous push from the Minutewomen in the closing minutes of the contest, the UD defense buckled down and limited the UMass offense to just one off-target shot in the final 15 minutes of action.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Noel Blain now has 11 points (5 goals, 1 assist) on the season, setting a new career-high.

Keeper Batoul Reda kept busy but faced little action in net, stopping both shots the Minutewomen registered on goal.

The shutout was the second consecutive for the Flyer defense, their first time having back-to-back clean sheets this season.
