Volleyball Sweeps Butler, Outlasts Ohio, 3-2, On Second Day Of Flyer Classic

Dayton Moves to 5-1 on the Season with 3-0 Weekend

DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team closed out the weekend with a 3-0 record after sweeping Butler and then outlasting Ohio, 3-2, on the second day of the Dayton Flyer Classic. In the Flyers' first game of the day, Dayton downed Butler 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-23) followed by a come-from-behind 3-2 (21-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-17, 15-11) nightcap win over Ohio.

Dayton improved to 5-1 on the season while Butler closed the weekend with an even 3-3 record and Ohio moved to 4-2.

GAME ONE
Dayton 3, Butler 0
34 & 10 - junior Alyssa Miller recorded the Flyers' lone double-double of the match with 34 assists and 10 digs to go with four blocks
16 - sophomore Karissa Kaminski was the team's leading passer with 16 digs
14 - sophomore Taylor Russell led all attackers with a season-high 14 kills and also got under a season-high eight digs
9.0 - the Flyers recorded 9.0 blocks as a team compared to the Bulldogs' 3.0
Butler - the Bulldogs were led by Mariah Grunze with the 12-kill, 10-dig double-double

GAME TWO
Dayton 3, Ohio 2
54 - Miller set a career-high 54 assists, her second 50-assist match this season, and also served up a career-high five aces
21 - Kaminski got under 21 digs to lead the Flyers, her second 20-dig match of the season
19 - junior Lexie Almodovar led all attackers with 19 kills, one of four Flyers with double-digit kills
11 - the team combined for 11 aces compared to the Bobcats' five
Ohio - the Bobcats were led by Caitlin O'Farrell with 18 kills and five blocks
