NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized Flyers from the men's and women's cross country programs for their exceptional season debuts at the Mike Baumer Invitational on Friday, September 1. The winners for each award are listed below.

Bryce Conley – Men's Performer of the Week
Cara Mooney – Women's Rookie of the Week
Bryce Conley made his season debut with a fifth place finish out of 177 competitors. His 14:52.9 time is a PR and a 28 second improvement on his previous 5K PR. Conley's average time per mile was 04:48.1. He also helped the Flyers to a third place finish out of 15 teams.
Abby Carter showed her status as a leader as she finished in second place out of 133 runners. Her time of 17:28.7 is now the seventh-best 5K time in UD history, which is two spots higher than her previous 5K PR. Carter's finish led the Flyers to a third place finish out of 13 teams.
James Mroczka made his collegiate debut at the Mike Baumer Invitational by finishing in 40th place with a time of 15:32.5. This is a three-second improvement over his high school 5K PR. Mroczka also averaged 5:00.9 per mile while being the top rookie finisher for the men's team.
Cara Mooney made her collegiate debut in dramatic fashion by finishing in sixth place with a time of 17:37.2 on Friday. She surpassed 127 runners while earning the 10th-best 5K time in UD women's cross country history. Mooney was also able to beat her high school 5K PR by 56 seconds.
The Flyers will be back on Saturday, September 16 as they travel to Indiana State University to compete in the John McNichols Invitational.
