#UDWSOC Shuts Out La Salle At Home, 2-0, For Sixth-Straight Win

Molly Russell Nets First Goal of the Season, Proves to be Game Winner

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's soccer team notched its sixth-consecutive win Thursday night with a 2-0 shutout of visiting La Salle. Junior Molly Russell's first career goal proved to be the game-winner as the Flyers picked up three more points to remain in first place in Atlantic 10 standings.

Dayton improves to 12-3 on the season and 6-1 in A-10 matches while La Salle is now 7-4-5 overall and 2-3-3 in league action.

KEY STATS
90 - eight Flyers played the entire 90 minutes, including junior goalkeeper Batoul Reda, the only Flyer to play all 1,350 minutes this season, on her way to 2,180 consecutive minutes in goal for UD
A - current A-10 Rookie of the Week Laney Smith tallied her first career assist as freshman Avery May scored on a rebound from Smith's shot that hit the post
G - Russell netted her first career goal, becoming the 12th different Flyer to score a goal this season

UP NEXT
Dayton will return to the friendly confines of Baujan Field Sunday to close out the week. UD will welcome VCU to town Oct. 20 for a 1 p.m. matinee. Sunday's match is women's soccer's Breast Cancer Awareness Game and the first 50 fans will receive a long-sleeve t-shirt. Fans are encouraged to wear pink.
