DAYTON – The No. 21-ranked Dayton volleyball team is back in action this weekend, Oct. 18-19, as it welcomes the current No. 2 team in the Atlantic 10, George Washington, to the Frericks Center.

The Flyers and Revolutionaries play at 7 p.m. on Friday and at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.
 
UD in the AVCA Polls - Movin' on up (Again)
The Flyers have been ranked in every American Volleyball Coaches Assocation (AVCA) poll of the 2024 season, coming in at No. 21 in the most recent rankings. Dayton was at No. 22 last poll after a week at No. 23 sitting at No. 24 for three consecutive weeks and opening 2024 at No. 22.
 
UD has been ranked in the AVCA Weekly Poll for 20 consecutive weeks dating back to the 2023 campaign. The only longer streak in program history came in the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons when the Flyers went 21 straight weeks in the Top 25.
 
Almodovar Chases History
Redshirt senior Lexie Almodovar has 1,743 kills in her career, trailing only Dayton Hall of Famer and UDVB all-time kill leader Faye Barhorst (1,796; 2003-06) by 53 kills. Almodovar, has averaged a career-best 4.62 kills per set so far this season.
 
Miller The Maestro
Senior setter Alyssa Miller has orchestrated the best Dayton offense in program history so far this season. The Flyers' .302 team attack percentage not only leads the Altnatic 10, but currently ranks seventh in the nation. The UD record for highest hitting percentage in a season was set in the 2020 (spring 2021) 16-match season when the Flyers hit .289 as a squad.
 
Individually, Miller ranks No. 5 in the NCAA and leads the the Atlantic 10 with 11.16 assists per set this season, while the current UD attack percentage of .302 is 48 points higher than the No. 2 team in the conference (George Washington - .254).
 
Nobody Better!
Dayton leads the Atlantic 10 in four categories this season, including assists/set (13.20), hitting percentage (.302), kills/set (14.16), and opponent hitting percentage (.154).
 
Redshirt senior Lexie Almodovar is the league's top offensive player in terms of points/set (5.16) and kills/set (4.62), while senior Alyssa Miller leads the league in assists/set (11.16). Junior middle blocker Liana Sarkissian (.399) and redshirt senior middle Alayna Yates (.359) are also No. 1 and 2 in hitting percentage.

Dayton has climbed to No. 16 in the most recent RPI Ranking
 
The Flyers' non-conference slate included Top 50 matches against Illinois (26), Marquette (28), Wright State (44), UNI (49), as well as Top 100 opponents FGCU (61), USF (66), and Bowling Green (76).
 
Loyola Chicago (112), George Washington (138), VCU (143), and Duquesne (148) round out the top five RPI rankings in the Atlantic 10.
 
Scouting George Washington
GW comes into the weekend with a record of 15-5 overall and a 5-2 mark in A-10 action. The Revolutionaries are just three wins short of tying its best mark under head coach Katie Reifert.
 
Senior outside hitter Salem Yohannes leads the George Washington attack this season, averaging 3.27 kills per set. The Revolutionaries lead the Atlantic 10 in aces/set with a 2.03 mark, and middle blocker Cianna Tejada is third in the league in hitting percentage (.347).
