DAVIDSON, N.C. - The University of Dayton men's soccer team traveled to Davidson College Saturday and dominated the hosts in a 5-1 victory.
The Flyers (8-2-3, 3-1-2 A-10) push their winning streak to three game while the Wildcats (5-6-4, 3-4-0 A-10) drop below .500 on the season.
SCORING BREAKDOWN
- 21:12 – Dayton took the initial lead with a goal from sophomore Cooper Lijewski (3rd goal) off the assist from fellow sophomore Braden Seel.
- 41:34 – Graduate student Hjalti Sigurdsson doubled the lead for the Flyers with his shot to the lower left corner in the 42nd minute. It tied him for the team lead with his seventh goal of the season.
- 60:09 – Freshman Andrew Armstong added to the margin with his second-half goal off assists from Lijewski and sophomore Martin Bakken.
- 63:48 – Just a few minutes later, Armstrong (5th goal) got his second of the game with assists from Bakken and senior Joseph Melto Quiah.
- 76:32 – Bakken (8th goal) converted a penalty in the 77th minute to put the game out of reach for the Flyers.
- 86:47 – Davidson managed to break up the shutout with a goal in the 87th.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Dayton out-shot Davidson 17-14 and put six on goal to the Wildcats' five on target.
- Fouls were 9-7 in favor of the Flyers.
- UD have five assists on five goals.
- Armstrong led the way with a brace, putting both his shots on goal.
- Bakken chipped in four points with two assists and a goal.
- Five Flyers played all 90 minutes in the game with seven players coming off the bench for Dayton.

"The team played extremely well tonight and controlled all phases of play," said head coach
Dennis Currier. "We did a great job dictating the tempo of the game from start to finish. It's a great conference win on the road."
UP NEXT
- The Flyers return home to host VCU on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. as a makeup game from a previously postponed contest.
