DAYTON – A three-run bottom of the sixth inning lifted the University of Dayton baseball team to a 4-2 victory over Lindenwood in the 2024 opener on Friday, Feb. 16 at AES Ohio Stadium.
 
With the FlyBoys trailing 2-1 in the sixth, freshman Ryan MacDougall came through with a clutch RBI single to tie the score. After a steal by the rookie and a walk to fifth-year Omar Daniels, sophomore Ivan Arias put UD ahead with a run-scoring single.
 
Dayton starter Chris Peguero dazzled on the mound in four innings of work, striking out a career-high nine. Senior Eli Majick (1-0) worked 3.1 innings of relief to pick up the victory, and fellow senior Nick Wissman (1 SV) pitched the final 1.1 to notch his first save of the season. In total, UD pitching struck out 15 batters.
 
MacDougall, Carlos Castillo and Paxton Tomaini each finished the day with two hits.
