NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The University of Dayton softball team is set to take on CSUN Thursday in its first of a four-game west coast swing this week. The Flyers and Matadors were originally scheduled to square off on Wednesday afternoon but impending inclement weather in the area pushed the game to Thursday. First pitch between UD and CSUN will be 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT at Matador Diamond.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (4-1) opened the 2024 season at Mercer's Heart of Georgia Classic Feb. 9-11, posting a 4-1 mark in five total games against Drexel and host Mercer. Sophomore
Izzy Kemp was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week Feb. 13 after recording a 0.00 ERA over 16.2 innings of work on her way to two wins and a save. Graduate Student
Emily Daniel led the Flyers' offense, posting a .462 average with six hits, four runs scored, four RBI and three stolen bases. Dayton did not compete during the second week of the season.
SCOUTING CSUN
CSUN (8-1) hosted the Matador Diamond Classic Feb. 15-17 and the Matadors' game against the Flyers will close out a stretch of nine out of 10 games at home to open the season. CSUN has four players batting above .300 led by Mikayla Carman (.409) with nine hits, five runs scored and three RBI. In the circle for the Matadors, Lauryn Carranco (4-1) holds the team's low ERA of 0.84 and has 21 Ks over 25.0 innings.

In the NCAA's final Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2023 season, Dayton came in at 124 according to NCAA.com. CSUN was ranked 125.
