WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Redshirt sophomore
Alejandro Cazorla homered for the third time in as many games, but the University of Dayton baseball team fell 14-2 in the series opener against No. 1-ranked Wake Forest Friday night at Couch Ballpark.

Cazorla launched his third homer of the season in the fourth inning to tie the score at 2-2, but the Demon Deacons showcased why they earned the No. 1 ranking, scoring 10 runs in the fourth and fifth innings to put the game out of reach.

Several Flyers made their Dayton debuts in the game, including pitchers
Bennett LaPalm,
Will Newell and
Ayden Tran. Newell tossed two scoreless innings and had a pair of strikeouts. It was the collegiate debuts for LaPalm and Tran.
