HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The University of Dayton baseball team erased an early five-run deficit but could not overcome Northern Kentucky, falling to the Norse 9-6 at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

NKU jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, but UD mounted a comeback, scoring four runs in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh to take a lead.
The Norse struck back with a pair of their own runs in the home half of the seventh, retaking a lead they would never give up.

Dayton mounted one final rally in the ninth inning, but
Mason Dobie's deep drive to left was corralled to end the game.

Carlos Castillo had a pair of hits and drove in two runs, including the then-go-ahead run in the seventh inning. Freshman
David Mendez also had a pair of hits, and both Dobie and sophomore
Ivan Arias reached base three times thanks to a hit and a pair of walks.
