#FlyBoys Soar Over Falcons, 14-4

Ryan MacDougall Has First Career Multi-Home Run Game

DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and never looked back, flying over Bowling Green 14-4 on Wednesday at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

Dayton ambushed the Falcons with a two-out rally in the first inning, scoring six runs. Freshman Ryan MacDougall registered the big blow, clearing the bases with his first collegiate grand slam (UD's third of the season).

UD made it 7-0 by the end of the third inning when sophomore Alejandro Cazorla's sacrifice fly scored sophomore Eddie Yamin IV.

Four Flyers crossed the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning including sophomore Ivan Irias and senior Carlos Castillo courtesy of Castillo's two-run home run, freshman David Mendez and Yamin.

The fifth inning was a showcase for freshman David Mendez. In the top of the inning, his diving catch kept the shutout intact for the time being. In the bottom half, Mendez drove in his 13th RBI of the season.

Bowling Green scored four runs in the top of the sixth, but MacDougall answered in the bottom half with a solo home run, his second of the game making the score 14-4.

Senior Austin Brush, sophomore Jake Tedesco, and graduate student Travis Densmore shut the Falcons out in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to seal the win for the #FlyBoys.

Junior Will Newill earned his first win as a Flyer in his first start, only giving up three hits and two runs across 5.0 innings.
