May's 11th-Place Finish Leads Men's Golf At Surf Club Invitational

Flyers Go Low on Final 18, Posting Tournament's Fifth-Lowest Round of 277

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - University of Dayton men's golf senior Henry May turned in the Flyers' low score at the Surf Club Invitational, closing out the third-round event with a three-under-par 68. The 54-hole invitational hosted by Appalachian State was contested at the Surf Golf and Beach Club and the course was played at par 71 and 6,696 yards.

Connecticut claimed the top team honors with its score of 278-274-273=825 (-27) and Appalachian State's Addison Beam earned medalist honors after defeating UConn's Ray Dennehy in a one-hole playoff for first place. Dayton significantly improved its score each round, highlighted by three Flyers posting sub-par rounds in the third, finishing in 13th place with a total of 300-288-277=865 (+13).

277 - as a team, the Flyers carded a final-round score of seven-under-par 277, the fifth-lowest round of the tournament and a team season-low round

2.83 - May led the field with an average score of 2.83 on par-three holes
🦅 - sophomore Jacob Garland carded an eagle on the par-five first hole during the second round of play
