#FlyBoys Thump Fordham, 12-6

UD Had 16 Hits Including Three Home Runs

DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team mashed three homers and slugged its way past Fordham, 12-6 on Saturday afternoon at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

The FlyBoys and Rams play the rubber match of the series on Sunday, March 31 at 12 p.m.

Dayton's offense clicked on all cylinders from the jump, as the Flyers scored two in the second inning to take an early lead and never looked back.

UD's big inning came in the fifth when it plated six runs, with junior Mason Dobie and senior Paxton Tomaini highlighting the frame with home runs. For Dobie it was his fifth home run of the season, while Tomaini's bomb was his second.

When the Rams snuck back into the game with a three-run seventh, the Flyers responded once again in their half of the inning, getting a RBI double from Dobie and a two-run homer from fifth-year senior Nolan Watson.

In total, Dayton scored 12 runs on 16 hits, five of which went for extra bases, and reached base via free pass 10 times (seven walks, three hit-by-pitch).

FlyBoys' starter Chris Peguero threw the first five innings to get his first win of the season, striking out four Rams and allowing just two earned runs. Senior Nick Wissman threw the final 3.1 innings to pick up his fifth save of the campaign.
