O'FALLON, Ill. - The University of Dayton men's tennis team controlled action from start to finish in its Saturday night Atlantic 10 match with Davidson College, sweeping the Wildcats 4-0 at the St. Clair Raquet Club.
UD jumped in front early with a convincing win in doubles, taking No. 1 behind fifth-year seniors
Connor Bruce and
Matt DeMarco by a 6-1 final, and winning at No. 3 with senior
Ronit Hiryur and freshman
Kyle McNally by a 6-3 score.
Dayton carried the momentum into singles, getting wins at No. 2, 3 and 6 to secure the sweep.Â
DeMarco had things firmly in control at No. 2, winning 6-1, 6-4, and McNally continued his roll with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3. Junior
Davis Phillips was most dominant of all, winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.
The Flyers turn around to take on host Saint Louis in its second Atlantic 10 match of the weekend, playing the Billikens at the St. Clair Raquet Club at 10 a.m. ET.
