#UDTF Finish Strong At The BSU We Fly Challenge

Bogues, Himmler, Santiago and Kindbom All Finish Top Three

MUNCIE, Ind - University of Dayton track and field competed both Friday and Saturday at the We Fly Track and Field Challenge hosted by Ball State University. On Friday, the meet was delayed because of lightning and hail, which led to a busy Saturday at the Briner Sports Complex. The javelin throw was moved to Saturday, but that didn't stop Casey Bogues from winning for the second straight week. The Flyers dominated the javelin with Luisa Himmler finishing second. Lauren Santiago in the 400m hurdles, Olivia Kindbom in the 3000m steeplechase and Grace Homan in the shot put all finished in the top four. UD also had seven Flyers achieve personal bests.

WE FLY CHALLENGE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Casey Bogues picked up her second win in two weeks and her tenth win at UD in the javelin. The redshirt junior threw 53.19m, which was just short of her own school record and the third best throw this year in the east region.
  • Luisa Himmler for the second straight week finished in the top three in the javelin. Her season best throw (42.02m) grabbed second place.
  • Lauren Santiago for the 14th time in her career had a top three finish. The senior was third in the 400m hurdles (1:03.03).
  • Olivia Kindbom in her first ever collegiate 3000m steeplechase finished third. The freshman crossed the finish line at 11:40.65.
