DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team is set to host Saint Joseph's this weekend for a three-game Atlantic 10 series at UD Softball Stadium. The Flyers and Hawks will get underway Saturday at 12 p.m. for a doubleheader followed by a single game Sunday at 12:05 p.m. and admission is free.
All three games will be available to follow via live stats at
Statbroadcast.com and Sunday's game will also be broadcast on
ESPN+.
NFCA STRIKEOUT CANCER
Dayton is dedicating this weekend's games to NFCA's StrikeOut Cancer initiative to raise awareness to make a difference. NFCA's StrikeOut Cancer is a support program that aids member coaches with their own awareness initiatives. The program leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of fastpitch softball coaches nationwide to help increase cancer education and promote healthy living through awareness efforts and fundraising activities.

Dayton (21-17, 10-5 A-10) picked up a 5-4 win over Northern Kentucky Tuesday in walk-off fashion as junior
Maddie Kapsimalis knocked out her second home run of the day. The Flyers have won three in a row and are currently in third place in Atlantic 10 standings. Kapsimalis (.389 - 4th A-10) leads UD's offense with 44 hits (t-3rd A-10) - 16 of which are for extra bases - 36 RBI (3rd A-10) and 22 walks (t-9th A-10) and she is one of three Flyers to have started in all 37 games this season. SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
Saint Joseph's (19-20, 12-5 A-10) dropped two games at Fordham on Wednesday and have now lost three of its last five conference contests. The Hawks are tied with Saint Louis in first place in league standings heading into the weekend. Gianna Muhaw leads SJU with 43 hits (t-6th A-10) and 11 stolen bases while 16 of Riley York's 29 hits have been for extra bases and she has tallied 27 RBI (6th A-10). Emily Siler (8-7) leads the Hawks' pitching corps with a 3.55 ERA (9th A-10) and she has tallied 56 strikeouts in 90.2 innings of work.
SERIES STUFF
Saint Joseph's leads, 32-24-1
The Flyers and Hawks split an Atlantic 10 doubleheader last season on April 29 in Philadelphia but SJU has won five of the last seven meetings in the series.
RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's final Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on April 18, Dayton came in at 151 according to NCAA.com. Saint Joseph's was ranked 192.
