DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team jumped ahead early and hung on late to win the second game of its Atlantic 10 series against Davidson 8-6 on Saturday, April 27th at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

The Flyers started hot, scoring a pair of runs in the second and adding three more in the third. Senior
Paxton Tomaini hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning to put the FlyBoys ahead, his third of the season.

David Mendez,
Eddie Yamin IV and
Nolan Watson each drove in a run in the third, helping build the Flyer lead even more. After another Yamin RPI in the fifth, UD plated two in the sixth with the highlight being Watson's ninth home run of the campaign.

Freshman starter
Connor Fennell turned in a quality start, throwing 6.1 innings, striking out nine batters without a walk, and surrendering three runs.

The Wildcats fought back against the Dayton bullpen and tightened the gap to two runs by the ninth. Senior
Luke Baker came on to pick up his first save of the season, striking out back-to-back Wildcats to secure the win for the Flyboys.
