#FlyBoys Split DH, Win Series Over St. Bonaventure

Nolan Watson Hit Two Homers In Game Two

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The University of Dayton baseball team split the day's doubleheader at St. Bonaventure on Sunday at Handler Park to win its second consecutive Atlantic 10 series. 
 
After the Bonnies walked off to win the first game, 11-10, the #FlyBoys struck back in a big way in the nightcap, downing SBU 17-3.

GAME TWO
Dayton 17, St. Bonaventure 3
 
Graduate student Nolan Watson slugged a pair of home runs and freshman Connor Fennell kept the Bonnies' offense in check through seven innings to earn his third win of the season to lift the FlyBoys to a win in game two.
 
Watson got the offense rolling in the first with a three-run homer and came back in his next at-bat to slug a two-run bomb that put Dayton ahead 7-0. In total, the Flyers had 10 runs on 14 hits for the game.
 
Fennell continued his strong performance of late, twirling seven innings and allowing just two runs and striking out six. The freshman is now 3-1 on the season and the Flyers are 5-1 when the right-hander starts.
 
Four Flyers finished with three-hit games, all in the top six spots in the lineup. Freshman David Mendez went 3-for-6 with four runs scored, three RBI and two steals, fifth-year Keagan Calero went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a steal, junior Mason Dobie turned in a 3-for-5 performance with three RBI, and sophomore Eddie Yamin IV had three hits in five chances.

GAME ONE
St. Bonaventure 11, Dayton 10

St. Bonaventure pulled out the late win thanks to three-straight, two-out singles to score the winning run in the ninth inning.
 
The two sides engaged in a slugfest, as both had double-digit runs and hits in the contest. Dayton jumped ahead early with a three-run second, but the Bonnies struck back with a six-run third.
 
UD countered with seven unanswered runs, scoring three in the fourth and four in the fifth, but SBU pulled even with two runs of its own in the fifth and sixth innings.
 
Graduate student Nolan Watson and sophomore Eddie Yamin IV led the FlyBoys with three hits apiece while also scoring three runs apiece. Sophomore Ivan Arias went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
