DAYTON – Home runs from junior
David Pedanou and sophomore
Eddie Yamin IV fueled the University of Dayton baseball team's offensive outburst to defeat Akron 12-7 on Tuesday afternoon at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.
The FlyBoys came out strong, scoring 11 runs in the first four innings on 14 total hits. Though UD was held to only one run for the rest of the contest, the early eruption proved to be more than enough for the Flyers to pick up their 10th home win this season.
Pedanou led the way for Dayton with three base hits on the day, including his second home run of the season. Sophomore
Ivan Arias also had a three-hit day, while
Keagan Calero,
David Mendez, and
Michael Adair each finished with two-hit performances.
Yamin's solo shot was his seventh of the season, putting him in sole possession of first place for home runs for the FlyBoys.
Freshman pitcher
Logan Barnett picked up his first career victory thanks to two shutout innings of middle relief. The Pontiac, Ill. native struck out one and did not allow an Akron hit.
