ST. LOUIS – The University of Dayton baseball team struck first in the battle of the Atlantic 10's top teams, taking the series opener against Saint Louis in dominating fashion, 11-3, on Friday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center.

The FlyBoys jumped ahead with a five-run first and never looked back. Senior
Carlos Castillo, making his return to the lineup after missing time due to injury, doubled home a pair of runs to announce his return with authority. He'd go on to collect two more hits and finish the day with four RBI.

After the Billikens scored in the home half of the first, UD responded by scoring another pair in the second and four more in the third to make it six unanswered and put the game out of reach.

Junior
David Pedanou finished the game with three hits, two runs scored and added a stolen base, while sophomore
Alejandro Cazorla went 1-for-4 with a walk and scored two runs.

Starting pitcher
Eli Majick threw the first 5.1 innings, striking out three and allowing two runs to pick up his fifth win of the season. Relief ace
Nick Wissman threw the final 3.2 and struck out three to earn his seventh save on the campaign.
