RICHMOND, Va. – University of Dayton hurler
Chris Peguero stymied the Richmond lineup for all nine innings on Saturday afternoon, throwing the Flyers' first complete game since the 2022 season to help lead UD to a 6-3 victory in the series finale against the Spiders at Pitt Field.
Â
Junior
Mason Dobie led the FlyBoys' offense, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI in the contest.
Â
Richmond plated two runs in the second inning to take an early lead, but Peguero responded by settling in and scattering seven baserunners over the next seven innings. The right-hander finished the game with six strikeouts and registered a quality start by allowing just three runs.
Â
The FlyBoys got on the board with a two-run third to tie the game, then sophomore
Alejandro Cazorla launched a two-run homer, his second of the series and seventh of the season, to give UD a lead they'd never let go.
Â
Dayton plated single runs in the sixth and seventh innings, manufacturing both to push its lead to 6-2. The Spiders made it a three-run game with a run in the eighth, but Peguero proved too much to overcome.
